Online Gambling Revenues

Monday, January 26th, 2009

A new report claims that mobile gaming wagers will increase to more than 20 billion dollars worldwide in the next five years. A sea-change in operator attitudes towards mobile gambling services, improvements to handset user interfaces and the gradual introduction of legislation permitting remote gambling in selected markets are among the key factors which are expected to push total annual wagers via mobile phones to more than $27.5 billion by 2013, according to a new report from Juniper Research. According to report author Dr. Windsor Holden, “Operators are demonstrably much more open to the idea of mobile gambling than they were even 12-18 months ago, both in terms of offering gambling and poker services on-portal and accepting advertising from gambling companies.” However, the Juniper report noted that, while EU intervention was having some impact on the liberalisation of Europe’s gambling markets, little progress had been made in the potentially lucrative US market, where remote gambling services are still prohibited. It argued that commercial deployments in the US were now unlikely until 2010 at the earliest. Juniper Research also found that mobile sports betting will comprise the majority of annual wagers over the next five years, although mobile lottery services — which are being increasingly deployed in key Latin American and Asian markets — will attain the highest adoption level, with nearly 400m users worldwide by the end of the forecast period. Other findings from the report include:

– Global gross win from mobile gambling poker services will rise from just under $192m in 2008 to $3.4bn by 2013

– In terms of total wager, Western Europe will remain the largest regional mobile gambling market throughout the forecast period, although the relative contribution of the UK will decline significantly with the deployment of more services in continental Europe

– Gambling service and poker providers should deploy text-based gambling services in developing markets to encourage mass adoption

Understanding What Reciprocal Linking Means

Monday, January 26th, 2009

If you have been marketing on the internet for any length of time you have surely heard that reciprocal linking is a great way to boost your google page rank as well as your search engine ranking. But what does reciprocal linking actually mean?

Reciprocal linking is a joint venture of sorts between you and another website owner to exchange links on each others websites. The benefits of reciprocal linking is getting targeted traffic directed to your website and vice-a-versa. Don’t be afraid to put your competitors website on your links page, especially if they have a high Google page rank. Linking to your competitors will actually help you. For example do a search on Google for your keyword(s) and find your competitor with the number 1 ranking position, now check their links page. You will more than likely find other websites that are sending them quality traffic, as well as other potential reciprocal link partners for your website.

Will any websites link do? No! Non-relevant links won’t help you with Google. Try and stay within your “niche” market.

When looking for potential reciprocal link partners there are few things you can do. Using search engines as mentioned above is a very good way to go about getting reciprocal link partners. Visit the top 10 or 20 sites ranked in Google and yahoo, and do some research on their link partners. Some other things to consider are sites with quality content, articles, reports, e-books, anything that is original. Look for websites that stay within their “niche”, you don’t want link partners that offer everything under the sun and no real substance to their website or business. These types of sites don’t usually last to long on the internet. Two other great free tools for researching reciprocal link partners is the Google and Alexa toolbars. Within the Google toolbar you have the ability to check the page rank Google has assigned to a potential link partner, the higher the page rank the more traffic and quality content that particular website offers. The Alexa toolbar shows you the traffic rank of a potential link partner. Any website within your niche that is that is ranked under a hundred thousand is a good potential link partner.

Now you know how to find link partners, what should you do? Most sites offer you a webpage on their website where you can add your links manually. You fill out a short form with your website url, description, email address and submit it to the webmaster for consideration. You in return add their particulars to your site and with in a day or two after they have had time to find their link on your site you should get an email from the webmaster that says they have added your link. It is that easy. However, with some sites you may have to send a reminder if they have not responded with a week or so. If you still get no response simply delete their link and move on. If they can not show you some common courtesy to bother to let you know that your link was approved or not then you really don’t need them as a partner.

To review, use search engines to find potential link partners with your niche. Research these sites for quality content. Use the Google and Alexa toolbars to find high traffic and high page rank sites to link to. Fill out a short form and start all over again. Remember your looking for quality not necessarily quantity with reciprocal linking. Good Luck.

Cisco CCNP / BSCI Certification: Introduction To ISIS Terminology

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

When you’re studying to pass the BSCI exam and earn your CCNP certification, you’re going to be introduced to ISIS. ISIS and OSPF are both link-state protocols, but ISIS works quite differently from OSPF. You must master these details in order to earn your CCNP.

One of the major differences between OSPF and ISIS will be evident to you when you first begin your BSCI exam studies, and that is the terminology. ISIS uses terms that no other protocol you’ve studied to date uses, and learning these new terms is the first step to BSCI and CCNP exam success.

First off, what does “IS” stand for in “ISIS”? It stands for “Intermediate System”, which sounds like a group of routers. As opposed to Autonomous Systems, which are logical groups of routers, an Intermediate System is simply a single router. That’s it.

You’ll also become familiar with End Systems, referred to in ISIS as an “ES”. The End System is simply an end host.

ISIS and OSPF both use the concept of areas, but ISIS takes a different approach to this concept. ISIS routers use three different types of routing levels, according to the area a router has been placed in. Level 2 routers are connected only to the backbone and serve as a transit device between non-backbone areas. Level 1 routers are totally internal to a non-backbone area.

ISIS uses both Level-1 and Level-2 Hellos, meaning that the two types of routers just mentioned cannot form an adjacency. Luckily for us, there is a middle ground, and that is the Level 1-2 router. These routers connect non-backbone areas to backbone areas. L1-L2 routers keep two separate routing tables, one for L1 routing and another for L2 routing. This is the default setting for a Cisco router, and L1-L2 routers can form adjacencies with both L1 and L2 routers.

Part of the challenge of learning ISIS is getting used to the differences between ISIS and OSPF. Keep studying the terminology, master one concept at a time, and soon you’ll be a master of ISIS and a CCNP to boot!

Public Speaking Tips: Lessons From Former US President Ronald Reagan

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

If you want public speaking tips, what are the ten insights you can learn from former US President Ronald Reagan who was known as ‘The Great Communicator’.

The news of the death of former US President Ronald Reagan at 93 in June 2004, has
again focussed the world’s attention on both his achievements and great
communication skills.

So what can we learn about life, business and success from Reagan?

Well, after reading the tributes that have poured in for the man they called
‘The Great Communicator’, here are my 10 insights.

1. YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD

While most people are enjoying retirement, others are just reaching the
height of their power and influence. At the age of 69, Reagan was the oldest
person ever to become president of the United States.

What do you plan to do at that age?

2. THE ‘NANCY FACTOR’

There’s a saying that behind every great man, there’s an even better women.
Reagan knew his strengths and importantly his weaknesses, such as a lack of
attention to detail. His wife Nancy made up for this and they became an
‘unshakeable and unbreakable couple’.

This highlights the power of a good relationship with a life partner.

3. A RICH AND VARIED LIFE

Reagan had a rich and deep well of life experiences on which to draw from.
The shoe salesman father, the economic reality of the 1930s Depression and
at 25, the excitement and drama of being a slick sports broadcaster.

All these experiences helped shape his values, beliefs and ability to
communicate with audiences.

4. HUMOUR AND HUMILITY

Despite the early success and attraction to Hollywood as a B-grade actor,
Reagan never forgot his roots.

On the assassination attempt on his life in March 1981, he turned to his
wife in the emergency room afterwards and said, “Honey, I forgot to duck.”

5. INSTANT LIKEABILITY

Like many people with charisma and charm, Reagan had that rare ability to
build instant rapport with people he met. He connected with people on a
personal level and people liked him for that.

How can you use charisma to build your personal brand?

6. SIMPLE CONCEPTS

While many have criticised his lack of detail and intellectual rigour,
Reagan’s great gift as a communicator was to take the complex, like a
solution to the Cold War, and make it appear simple to the masses.

Like Clinton’s often quoted comment, “It’s the economy, stupid’, Reagan was
a master at delivering simple concepts that everyone could understand.

7. HOLLYWOOD STYLE

Reagan know how to dress, network with the right people and manage his
image. Skills learnt early in the cut-throat world of the Hollywood movie
industry.

8. ATTENTION TO DETAIL

There are reports that Reagan’s reign as President was tightly managed and
scripted. So what if there were chalk marks on stage outlining where to
stand and his use of cue cards as memory joggers prior to important
meetings. His background had taught him the importance of attention to
detail. Sports broadcasters around the world are meticulous to their
approach to big matches. Reagan approached presidential duties no
differently.

These are the little things that can make a big difference to the impact of
your message.

9. THE RARE ABILITY TO MOVE PEOPLE TO ACTION THROUGH THE SPOKEN WORD

Out of the millions of presentations given every day, few achieve this goal.
Yet, I believe it should be the outcome of every speech.

Reagan had it. An online biography from ‘The New Book of Knowledge’ takes a
deeper look at this rare skill.

“As a freshman, Reagan took part in a student strike that resulted in the
resignation of the college president, who had proposed cutting back the
curriculum and the teaching staff because of a shortage of funds. Reagan
made the main speech at a rally that won support for the strike from nearly
all the students. He later said that he learned then what it was like to
succeed with an audience. His skill with audiences was to be a major factor
in his successes in later life.” (Source: http://ap.grolier.com)

10. UNFALTERING OPTIMISM

Research shows that optimism is a learned skill and optimistic people
achieve more from life.

This is the one quality I admire most in Reagan. He had it until the very
end, as this quote delivered on November 5th, 1994, announcing he had
Alzheimer’s disease, demonstrates.

“In closing let me thank you, the American people, for giving me the great
honor of allowing me to serve as your president. When the Lord calls me
home, whenever that may be, I will leave with the greatest love for this
country of ours and eternal optimism for its future. I now begin the journey
that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there
will always be a bright dawn ahead.”

Thomas R. Cutler Spotlights e-kanban in Time Compression Technologies Magazine Lean Manufacturing Se

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

The September/October issue of Time Compression Technologies magazine includes a feature article, “Lean Manufacturing: How Big is the Market? Lean Enterprise: How Much Bigger is the Market?” authored by North America’s leading manufacturing journalist, Thomas R. Cutler (www.trcutlerinc.com).

Cutler provided a detailed history of the lean manufacturing marketing including how e-kanban solutions are central to an effective lean manufacturing initiative. According to Matthew Marotta, founder of Datacraft Solutions, “We do not charge for upgrades to the system as we learn about new best practices that clients ask us to incorporate. Before Datacraft incorporates the request, it is reviewed buy a lean advisory board to validate the value of the best practices and the value added impact upon our partner community. Once it is passed, they develop, test, and implement.”

The hosted solution provides the customer with their own set of servers which are maintained offsite by and outsourced set of administrators. All of the administration fees, equipment, support teams and software updates are all included in the monthly service fee which is less then the cost of hiring an internal system administrator.

The value of an ASP is that manufacturers can buy “by the drink”, low risk, and a see a rapid ROI. Only internet access is required.

The non-ASP option leaves manufacturers investing a large sum into the communication network, IT personnel, IT training, application servers, consulting for system modification, along with all the hidden costs that come with it. The only disadvantage of using an ASP is the client never owns the system (application), only their own data. This concern tends to be the issue of IT since they want to control all phases of the e-kanban operation. The cost of the control is wasteful and completely antithetical to a Lean Initiative.

While some ERP systems QAD, Factory Logic, and Supply Works have some e-kanban functionality is not their core focus, so manufacturers are purchasing the ERP system at a significant price tag including all the prices increases (and upgrade charges). From the perspective of Lean functionality and immediate ROI the cost cannot be justified, unless there is a plan for a manufacturer to replace the ERP system.

Scientists Declaration about The Holy Quran and Islam-Durja

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Sheikh Zindan presented to Prof. Rao many verses dealing with his area of specialisation, and asked: “What do you think of the existence of the scientific information in the Qur’n? How could Prophet Muhammad have known about these facts fourteen centuries ago?”

“It is difficult to imagine that this type of knowledge was existing at that time, around 1400 years back. May be some of the things they have simple idea about, but to describe those things in great detail is very difficult. So this is definitely not simple human knowledge. A normal human being cannot explain this phenomenon in that much detail. So, I thought the information must have come from a supernatural source.”

“I find it very interesting that this sort of information is in the ancient scriptures of the Holy Qur’n, and I have no way of knowing where they would have come from. But I think it is extremely interesting that they are there and this work is going on to discover it, the meaning of some of the passages.”

And when he was asked about the source of the Qur’n, he replied, “Well, I would think it must be the divine being.”

“That is a difficult question which I have been thinking about since our discussion here. I am impressed at how remarkably some of the ancient writings seem to correspond to modern and recent Astronomy. I am not a sufficient scholar of human history to project myself completely and reliably into the circumstances that 1400 years ago would have prevailed.

Certainly, I would like to leave it at that, that what we have seen is remarkable, it may or may not admit of scientific explanation, there may well have to be something beyond what we understand as ordinary human experience to account for the writings that we have seen.”

“I say, I am very much impressed by finding true astronomical facts in Qur’n, and for us modern astronomers have been studying very small piece of the universe. We have concentrated our efforts for understanding of very small part. Because by using telescopes, we can see only very few parts of the sky without thinking about the whole universe. So by reading Qur’n and by answering to the questions, I think I can find my future way for investigation of the universe.”
